More Hands on Deck - London Gateway Team Gets Bigger and Stronger

London Gateway has sourced new senior team appointments from the local area including Financial Director, Commercial Director and HR Manager, providing more firepower to the management team in the build up to the new deep-sea port’s opening in Q4 2013.
New appointments include:
- Clive Allen, Finance Director – Clive a long term Essex resident, has over 20 years experience in the shipping industry, most recently having worked for P&O Containers and the Maersk group. Clive’s experience covers all aspects of liner shipping, having been involved in the launch of new products such as P&O Nedlloyd’s Pacific Trade and having held full profit & loss responsibility for the multi-billion dollar company. While with Maersk, Clive was in charge of finance in the UK and financial controller for all inland terminal activities within APM Terminals.
- Charles Meaby, Commercial Director – Charles, a Southend resident has been promoted from London Gateway’s general management. In the new role as Commercial Director Charles will lead the commercial, property and communication teams to establish London Gateway as the first choice UK national port and logistics hub for customers. Charles has more than 15 years experience in port development, having joined DP World in 2005, previously working for Associated British Ports and Hutchison Port Holdings in the UK and overseas where he held senior management positions in general management, commercial and business development.
- Victoria Tobin, Human Resources Manager – who was born and bred in Essex, will ensure that London Gateway continues to have the best people in place for the hundreds of new roles at the site. Victoria is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and has over 20 years experience in HR working in the pharmaceutical and retail sector with companies including Tesco, Makro, and Waymade Healthcare.

We have spent a lot of time handpicking the best people from across the globe as well as the local community. Some of our new team members are joining us from as far as New Zealand, but about two-thirds of our staff are from the local area and we expect this to increase. There will be great benefits to local employment at London Gateway as thousands of new jobs become available in the coming years."
Clive Allen said: "Since I arrived here, I have seen an outstanding commitment to making London Gateway a great success. It’s a real privilege to work here."
Charles Meaby said: "I have been very lucky and held many interesting roles in some great locations but it is difficult to imagine that there could be a more exciting
opportunity than to lead our commercial efforts in the run up for London Gateway’s opening in 2013’
