Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
Published 13 March 2020
Given the rapidly evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), DP World in the UK is putting in place appropriate measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees and our customers. We are also putting in place provisions to support the safe continuation of our operations in the UK supply chain if the virus continues to spread.

We are continuing to follow the guidance from all relevant health authorities, statutory bodies and local port authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Aligned with Government recommendations, we have taken the following safeguarding measures. Please note these actions are subject to change as the situation develops.
  • All incoming vessels must provide a Declaration of Health Statement. Any vessel that does not adhere to this process and fails to provide an appropriate Declaration will not be able to enter the port until isolation measures have been put in place.
  • Processes at both ports ensure there is minimal contact with for example crew of visiting vessels and lorry drivers in our landside operation.
  • We have implemented appropriate procedures and guidance for all areas of the business including assessment of the availability of critical equipment and infrastructure. Continuity plans and risk assessments are in place for critical business functions.
  • We cancelled or postponed all non-critical business meetings with external parties and non-essential business travel.
  • Highest level of hygiene standards are being advocated for all people on site. Additional hand sanitisers have been installed in all welfare areas and vigilant hand washing is recommended. We are providing cleaning products for use on shared equipment.
  • We urge our staff and our customers to follow the government advice for self-isolation and travel from specified countries. Anyone experiencing either a high temperature, or a new and continuous cough, is advised to stay at home for seven days and not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
These measures intent to limit unnecessary contact to help reduce potential exposure to the virus, whilst maintaining our essential role in the supply chain.

As a global trade enabler that plays a crucial role in the UK supply chain, our aim is to continue to keep trade flowing as safely and effectively as we can.

We would like to thank you in advance for your support.
