15 August 2019
Please note that the A13 will be closed in both directions underneath the A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout) junction from 9pm on Friday 16 August until 5am on Monday 19 August, and every weekend thereafter until Monday, October 21 or October 28, depending on progress.
Road users will have to divert via the slip road at the Orsett Cock roundabout and re-enter via one of the slip roads, shown on the map below.
Delays are expected given that traffic is likely to end up queuing at the roundabout, on the slip roads. You may wish to avoid this section of road altogether by using the A127 (re-joining the A13 at Basildon or Pitsea) or via the A130, re-joining the A13 at Sadlers Farm.
If you are travelling to the port or Logistics Park during this time, please plan your journey in advance and allow extra travel time.
The work is being undertaken by Thurrock Council as part of a large project to widen the A13 from two lanes to three in both directions between the A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout) and the A1014 (The Manorway, Stanford-le-Hope).
Works are scheduled to be complete by late Autumn 2020. When finished, the widened section will join with the existing three-lane section of the A13, west of the A128, providing a continuous three-lane road in both directions between the M25 and Stanford-le-Hope.
